Each year in Pride in Diversity’s AWEI employee survey, we see that gender remains the main barrier when it comes to workplace safety and career progression for the Sapphire cohort. Our data shows that LGBTQ people who are or may be perceived as women are less likely to be in leadership positions within their organisations. They continue to want role models and to see people with similar identities and experiences as themselves in leadership but are mostly not finding anyone to look to.

This year, we will be hearing from a senior leader who is LGBTQ and is or may be perceived as a woman. We will discuss with them their experiences in the workplace, what their career progression looked like, and advice they may have for the next generation making their way through the workforce. We’ll hear from them what they think organisations can be doing to not only identify their future Sapphire leader, but also how to support and develop them to become leaders within their organisations.
